ABOUT ME

I’m Dr. Junaid Beig, a specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist based in Hobart, Tasmania. I am a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), having trained and practised in New Zealand before relocating to Tasmania.

I currently work with the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Royal Hobart Hospital, where I manage a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. These include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, coeliac disease, hepatitis, chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and the screening of gastrointestinal and liver cancers.

I perform both diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies and gastroscopies. In addition to my public hospital role, I offer private consultations at Calvary Consulting Suites, providing accessible, high-quality care in a comfortable setting.

I focus on delivering personalised, evidence-based care—tailored to each patient’s needs and guided by the latest advancements in the field.

Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in research and remain actively involved in academic activities that contribute to the ongoing development of gastroenterology and hepatology.
